Mount Baker Elopement
Trang and Uriah's elopement day was nothing short of perfect and meant to be. They met working at a local Italian restaurant where Uriah began to slowly try winning her over. They started having small conversations while working and quickly became friends. Then one night, they went out to grab some dessert after work and the rest is history!
Trang and Uriah are avid hikers and love to hit the trails and explore together. They love adventuring with one another across the PNW. Between their love for the outdoors, and wanting a wedding that was intimate, stress-free, and focused on THEM- they decided to have an adventurous elopement! They wanted to get married somewhere where they could be in the mountains, they could take their dog, and that offered privacy and intimacy. We found the perfect location in the Mount Baker Wilderness in Washington!
When I was getting to know the couple leading up to their elopement day, I asked Uriah how he knew that Trang was the ONE for him he said: "The moment I met Trang, I was impressed with her approach to taking on life. I had not come across someone with so much drive. I knew she was the one a few years in and realized that every day she was more and more beautiful to me and that has not stopped. There has not a day gone by that I don’t look at her in awe and amazement." My heart pretty much melted when I heard that. Every time I met up with these two, their love for one another was written clearly across their faces.
On their elopement day, we started the day by meeting up in the morning (coffee in hand!). After a really rough road up a mountain, we finally made it to the trail head. We gathered our gear and began the hike up the mountain! Trang's best friend and Uriah's brother joined us to witness the start of their marriage and adventure with them on their wedding day. Trang and Uriah couldn't imagine their wedding day without their dog Mazzakine- so they brought him along too!
The hike up was absolutely gorgeous, they decided to elope on my absolute favorite trail in the world. Remote, intimate, and beautiful, this trail has breathtaking views that only get better the higher you go! Fall had already begun in the mountains and the deep hues of yellows, oranges, and reds were stunning. The gorgeous alpine lakes and stunning mountain ranges provided a sense awe as we soaked in the rugged beauty.
Their pup had the time of his life exploring the trails with us. He even packed up all of their food to the top (he was the cutest wedding guest ever!). Wild huckleberries were growing everywhere alongside the trail, and made a great snack as we were hiking up. When we reached the top, we took a moment to enjoy the views before Trang got ready in an abandoned fire lookout and Uriah got ready outside.
While we had endless views hiking up, fog quickly rolled in and obstructed all the scenery. But it didn't matter to Trang and Uriah. All they wanted to do was go and get married already! After five years of being together, they were ready to commit their lives to one another. So we braved the freezing cold and went back out onto the mountaintop. Trang was a champ, she looked absolutely stunning in her dress and even went without a jacket.
They had decided they wanted to experience the excitement and surprise of a first look. It was so incredible. The look on Uriah's face when he saw his gorgeous bride was absolutely priceless. The love on his face was clear and the happiness the two of them shared was beautiful.
Being one of the few people to witness and hear two people exchanging their vows on top of a mountain, in the middle of nowhere, was so powerful. Trang and Uriah's ceremony was intimate, intentional and so unbelievably special. Hearing them say their vows to one another made me tear up behind my camera!
Their intentional love for one another was evident as they promised and dedicated their lives to each other. When they exchanged rings, they couldn't contain their happiness and excitement. Their first kiss was so perfect, as they finally got to embrace and celebrate!
After the ceremony, we went to warm up back in the fire lookout and to wait for the fog to clear up. Luckily, we didn't have to wait long. While waiting, we happily signed their marriage license and made it official. We started talking to some fellow hikers who were also warming up inside, so Trang invited them to join in on popping the champagne on the mountainside to celebrate!
Trang and Uriah's happiness was contagious as they had their first dance and we explored our beautiful destination. We ended the day by hiking back down with the happy couple still in their wedding attire! Hiking down a mountain in a wedding dress and hiking boots is pretty badass if you ask me. Trang and Uriah's elopement day was so incredible to be a part of and a day that I will never forget.
