North Cascades Wedding
Kaila & Ben are the type of couple that when you meet them, you just know they are perfect for each other. They complement one another so well and they just light up whenever the other is around. It's so clear how happy they are when they're together. It's the kind of love that spreads happiness to others.
After nearly 4 years together, they decided to elope in Washington so they could have a wedding day they truly enjoyed together. They fell in love with the idea of the North Cascades and decided to have their elopement somewhere in the mountains. Photographing their elopement day really felt like photographing a couple of friends- their day will be impossible to forget and I feel so lucky to have gotten to tell their story.
We started their day in a cozy cabin, tucked away in the woods in the nearby town of Glacier, WA. Having a first look experience was something that was special for them, so they got ready separately. They had lots of sweet details that included family members who couldn't be there with them on their day and Ben's ring was personalized with Kaila's fingerprint & a sweet engraved messaged.
After a short walk to a little trail in the forest, they shared an emotional first look among the lush green ferns & trees as they reveled in the feeling of their elopement day and the fact that they were to be officially married soon.
We then drove up the gorgeous mountain pass to one of the most scenic areas in Washington where we wandered into the picnic area to find a table with a gorgeous view of the mountains for them to eat their delicious (and very beautiful!) cake with champagne.
Next they decided to explore around the beautiful meadows & wander through the trees- eating wild blueberries that were growing along the trail as we hiked by. We wandered down to the lakeshore where they had so much fun spending time with one another, dancing with one another, joking & laughing, and soaking in the beautiful views and the start of sunset. After finding the perfect spot overlooking the lake, with beautiful mountain views, Kaila & Ben decided to say their vows.
Their ceremony was so incredibly emotional & sweet- with personally chosen readings & beautiful, handwritten vows, it was so very moving. Their joy and happiness radiated throughout both of them, in the ceremony and through the entire day. It was so clear just from looking at them how in love they were and how happy they made one another- they couldn't stop smiling.
They then shared their first dance at the very end of sunset, having so much fun swaying and twirling to the music. We ended the night with a quick stop at a little lake that has a gorgeous view of Mt. Shuksan during blue hour, which was quite the magical and perfect end to a perfect day.

"Where do I begin?? I am still lost at words with the experience I had with Kathleen.
From day one, Kathleen was extremely involved with the process. She scheduled a call to personally get to know us and feel out what we were looking for. She constantly reassured us to relax and enjoy each moment.
The reason why Ben and I chose to elope, was to avoid the stress of wedding planning. We both had a very busy summer ahead and our last priority was creating a picture-perfect wedding. Kathleen sent us simple, yet detailed, questions to create and capture the elopement of our dreams. She had lots of fun ideas we hadn't even thought of!
Since we had so much communication, I felt like I had known Kathleen forever! So, when the elopement day arrived and my nerves were slightly buzzed, Kathleen waltzed in, and I knew I had nothing else to worry about. She was so kind and thoughtful...she brought me fleece lined leggings because she remembered I get cold easily!! (like whaaat?!)
I hope you're grasping how easy it was to connect with her.
During our elopement she made us both feel so comfortable in front of the camera. I honestly forgot it was there most of the time. She had the cutest ideas of where to pose and fun movements like running up a small area (the running shots turned out super cute!!) In 24 short hours, we received DOUBLE what we thought we would in sneak peaks! UGH it just made us that much more excited to view our full gallery.
Once Kathleen sent us our gallery (a few days before she had originally proposed) I was blown away. She created the cutest sneak peek video that flashed pictures from our day. This built up our excitement. Upon finally entering our gallery, with tears in my eyes, I was greeted with shivers down my spine.
The pictures were magical. They felt unreal. It was as if I was a drone peering into someone's elaborate dream. (Mine!!) I would love to scream Kathleen Elizabeth Photography from the rooftops.
You. Will. Not. Be. Disappointed.
